Humanities Courses Among Most Offbeat in Bay Area This Fall

Monday, August 28, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- San Francisco State’s Comics and Culture is one such untraditional Humanities class being offered this fall at one of the larger local universities in the Bay Area. The class has its enrollees consider the medium as a sort of cultural art form, not unlike film or books.

San Francisco State’s Images of Eroticism explores ways in which human sexuality, both the socially acceptable varieties and those practices which different societies attempt to prohibit, are represented in the art and literature of cultures in different historical periods.

Faculties at San Jose State and Stanford to San Francisco State and UC Berkeley are all planning offbeat classes across a number of topics, relating to hip hop, classic films, sex and more.
