SF State's opera and orchestra bring Strauss' masterpiece to the McKenna Theatre stage. Director Nikolas Nackley's hilarious rewriting of the script transports this Viennese comedy to the Castro of the early 1970s. A touch of leather and the choreography of Professor Ray Tadio add an extra thrill to the champagne-soaked second act masquerade party where everything goes awry! The classic elements of mistaken identity, secret passions, revenge and too much alcohol fuel this evening of unforgettable theatre. Sung in English. Accompanied by the SF State Orchestra. Conducted by Christine Brandes. March 10, 7:30pm. March 12, 2pm. $5 - $15.
