Vendice was head of music staff and chorus master at Los Angeles Opera for 12 years and a member of the conducting staff at the Metropolitan Opera, where he debuted in 1983 with The Barber of Seville. One of the nation’s outstanding vocal coaches, Vendice was music director of the University of Southern California Opera from 1992 to 1995 and music director of UCLA Opera from 1996 to 2004. He has judged for the Met auditions in many cities throughout the U.S., as well as the Spotlight and Bel Canto Society awards.
