Toru Sugita: Bay Area Lines and Shadows

Toru Sugita shows four prints of urban Bay Area landscapes. Originally from Japan, Sugita shows his prints and paintings throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Latin America. His prints can be found in various public collections including the Achenbach Foundation of Graphic Arts in the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco. Hours: Mondays-Fridays, 8am-6pm. Reception: September 27, 3-5pm. Free.

Sugita (Master of Fine Arts, Art, ’03) spent time traveling extensively throughout Latin America and the Middle East, finally establishing residence in San Francisco. He is the illustrator of the award-winning book Floating Lanterns and Golden Shrines. In 2006 Sugita joined the faculty at Colorado Mesa University, where he produced works with Dance Professor Matt Lindstrom. In 2009 Sugita returned to the Bay Area as assistant professor of art at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.
