The Creative Writing Department opens its Writers on Writing course to the public every Monday evening of the semester. Taught by Donna de la Perrière, the course features faculty and visiting writers reading from their works and discussing their creative process.

Tom Barbash

Barbash is the author of the award-winning novel The Last Good Chance and the nonfiction book On Top of the World: Cantor Fitzgerald, Howard Lutnick and 9/11: A Story of Loss and Renewal, a New York Times bestseller. His stories and articles have been published in Tin House, McSweeney’s, Virginia Quarterly Review and other publications and have been performed on National Public Radio’s Selected Shorts. He is an associate professor in the Master of Fine Arts program at California College of the Arts and has also taught at SF State and Stanford University, where he was a Stegner Fellow.
