Her most recent book, Boxing the Compass, launched the new Akrilica series, a collaboration between Noemi Press and Letras Latinas headed by Carmen Gimenez Smith and Francisco Aragon, which aims to complicate perceptions of contemporary Latino literature by publishing innovative writing that thwarts stereotypical expectations. Boxing the Compass won the University of Indianapolis Etchings Press Whirling Prize. Florian’s creative work appears in more than 60 international literary journals and the anthologies Beyond the Field and The Americas Anthology of New Writings.
