Waters is also the author of the story collection Desert Gothic, which won the Iowa Short Fiction Award. His fiction has been anthologized in the Pushcart Prize, Best of the West and New Stories from the Southwest. A frequent contributor to the San Francisco Chronicle, he’s also written for The New York Times Book Review, Outside, The Believer and Slate, among other publications. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he was an Iowa Arts Fellow. Beginning in 2015, he will be a visiting assistant professor at Lewis and Clark College.

The Creative Writing Department opens its Writers on Writing course to the public on Mondays this semester. Taught by Robert Glück, the course features faculty and visiting writers reading from their works and discussing their creative process.
