Priya Kandaswamy is an associate professor of women's, gender and sexuality studies at Mills College. Her research and teaching interests include examining the intersections of race, gender, sexuality and class in such contemporary issues as globalization, immigration, the welfare system, the criminal justice system and violence against women. Recent work analyzes race and the rhetoric of family values in historical and contemporary debates about social welfare in the United States. Free.
