Nathaniel Hawthorne and Mo Yan: Women and the Sin of Adultery in The Scarlet Letter and Red Sorghum

Visiting scholar Wang Min, of Shanghai Normal University, specializes in American literature, among other subjects in English language and literature. In this talk she will explore the surprising similarities, as well as the differences, between Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter and Nobel laureate Mo Yan's 1986 novel Red Sorghum. This lecture is the Spring Colloquium of the Department of Comparative and World Literature. Free.
