Amirrezvani is the author of the novels Equal of the Sun and The Blood of Flowers. USA Today described The Blood of Flowers as “filled with intricate designs, vivid colors, and sparkling gems.” It has appeared in more than 25 languages and was long-listed for the 2008 Orange Prize for Fiction. Amirrezvani is an adjunct professor at the California College of the Arts and Sonoma State University. She earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from SF State in 2009.

The Creative Writing Department opens its Writers on Writing course to the public on Mondays this semester. Taught by Robert Glück, the course features faculty and visiting writers reading from their works and discussing their creative process.
