Founded in 1999, the ensemble’s mission is to expose the larger listening audience to the richness of Cuban and other Latin American music styles that have so influenced American popular music styles. Over its 15 year history, the ensemble has performed at San Francisco’s Carnaval, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and live on KPFA-FM as well as with legendary performers such as Orquesta Aragón, Israel “Cachao” Lopez and Benny Velarde. The ensemble has become a significant part of the Bay Area’s multicultural music and art community.
