Thursday, February 16, 2017, 7:00 pm
Witness the insights and visions for textile reuse in a new SF State-produced documentary Toward Zero Textile Waste. Grounded in experts testimonies, this film presents concepts regarding how a healthy balance must be struck among environmental, social and economic factors in textiles and clothing. The film showcases the hard work, challenges and success journeyed as Apparel Design and Merchandising students designed and produced products from tablecloths. Produced by Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Professor Hamid Khani. The San Francisco Department of the Environment proclaims that San Franciscans send 4,500 pounds of textiles to landfill every hour, most of which can be reused. Reception: 6:30 p.m. Free.
