Layli Long Soldier

Layli Long Soldier won the 2016 Whiting Award for poetry. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from Bard College. She has served as a contributing editor of Drunken Boat. Her poems have appeared in The American Poet, The American Reader, Kenyon Review Online and other publications. She is the recipient of the 2015 NACF National Artist Fellowship and a 2015 Lannan Literary Fellowship. Her work of poetry, WHEREAS, will be published by Graywolf Press in 2017. Long Soldier is an English faculty member at Diné College.

Truong Tran

SF State Lecturer Truong Tran is a visual artist and the author of The Book of Perceptions, placing the accents, dust and conscience, within the margin, four letter words and a children’s book, Going Home Coming Home. The Book of Perceptions was a finalist for the Kiriyama Prize, and placing the accents (Apogee Press, 1999) was a finalist for the Western States Prize for Poetry. dust and conscience (Apogee Press, 2002) won the SF State Poetry Center Prize. Other honors include grants from The Fund for Poetry, Creative Work Fund, Cultural Equity Grant and California Arts Council Grant. Tran also teaches at Mills College.
