My 'Paper Son' Story: Reflections and Lessons

Buck Gee, Katie Quan, William Gee Wong and Judy Yung discuss their experiences as descendants of "paper sons" and "paper daughters" -- early 20th-century Chinese immigrants who entered the United States on identity papers purchased for them. A special advanced screening of an excerpt from a new documentary, The Chinese Exclusion Act, follows the discussion. Directed by by Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Ric Burns and Li-Shin Yu, the film will air on PBS' American Experience in May 2018. Free.
