Raworth published more than 40 books of poetry, prose and translations, including Tottering State, Ace, Eternal Sections and Heavy Light. As founder of Matrix Press and cofounder of Goliard Press, he was instrumental in bringing an entire tradition of American poetry to English readers. He won the Cholmondeley Award, Philip Whalen Memorial Award and Antonio Delfini Prize for Lifetime Achievement.

Raworth taught as a visiting lecturer at University of Texas, Austin; University of California, San Diego; and University of Cape Town in South Africa. He also served as poet-in-residence at King’s College, Cambridge University.
