Randall Kohl presents a lecture and solo guitar recital of compositions and arrangements by Orizaban guitarist Octaviano Yáñez (1865 - 1927). Though largely unknown today, Yáñez was considered Mexico's finest classical guitarist during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Free.

Kohl holds a bachelor’s degree in music from University of California at Santa Cruz, a master’s in ethnomusicology from University of Hawaii at Manoa and a doctorate in history and regional studies from Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. He is a full-time, tenured professor of music at Universidad Veracruzana.
