Hansen’s primary research interest is in philosophy of language, with an emphasis on contextualism, experimental semantics and pragmatics, the legacy of ordinary language philosophy, and the meaning of color terms. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Chicago in 2010 and has held postdoctoral research fellowships at Umeå University in Sweden and at the Institut Jean-Nicod in Paris. In summer and fall 2018, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University’s Center for the Study of Language and Information. In 2016 – 2017, Hansen was an external faculty fellow at Stanford’s Humanities Center.
