Professor Javon Johnson's poetry performance, 'Cuz He's Black,' goes viral

One of SF State’s newest tenure-track faculty members is already viral. Javon Johnson’s performance from the 2013 National Poetry Slam, “Cuz He’s Black,” has inspired more than 2.5 million views, shares, comments, likes, tweets and pins.

The assistant professor of Communication Studies’ poem is about a conversation he had with his young nephew, and what it means for racism and police brutality in the U.S.
