SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Returning from Europe yesterday, Dr. Alfred G. Fisk, instructor in Philosophy at San Francisco State, told how he was subjected to two hours of grueling questioning in Danzig because he had not saluted in a Nazi manner. Fisk arrived in the “Free City” as hostilities on the Polish frontier began. When Dr. Fisk failed to lift his arm in the Nazi salute with others about him, he was arrested. However he produced his American passport and convinced his questioners of his nationality. Shortly afterward, as he was walking along a street, he was roughly seized from behind by soldiers and taken to police headquarters. He was accused of forging his passport and for two hours was steadily questioned as to his past actions and travels.
