E WORLD WIRE -- Up-and-coming director Michelle Kantor helms an all-female cast and crew including Student Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Kimby Caplan. Kantor is at the forefront of a wave of independent women filmmakers pushing their way into a male-dominated industry, where women comprised only 6 percent of all directors working on the top 250 films of 2013. Caplan and Kantor are honored to be recognized at the LA Femme Film Festival, as it is the perfect opportunity to showcase underrepresented works of women in filmmaking before veterans of the industry. Much like its creators, “Highway to Yodel-Ay-Hee-Huuu” is the ultimate niche film with wider commercial appeal. In 2002, Cinefemme was founded by three female graduate students at San Francisco State University. It is Cinefemme’s mission to work on behalf of female filmmakers to increase women's presence in the film and entertainment industry.
