NAPA VALLEY REGISTER -- Arnold’s initial musical training was on violin and trombone before taking up the double bass, which he continues to play in all contexts from classical to bluegrass. He studied music education and music criticism at Northwestern University and received a Master of Music degree in conducting from San Francisco State, where he served as interim director of the San Francisco State University wind ensemble and assistant conductor of the orchestra.

“While I love working with all ages, from beginning musicians to seasoned adults, this age and level is a pure joy to work with,” Arnold says. “They aren’t so experienced that they are set in their ways, but with just a little bit of elbow grease that can accomplish truly extraordinary musical feats. I feel extremely privileged to get to make music with them.”
