VALLEJO TIMES-HERALD -- Fortunately for the Cleveland-born, Texas-raised former San Francisco State University student, enough audience appreciates his work to elevate Stout to national headliner status.

Winning the Boston International Comedy Festival surely helped. As did appearances on “Chelsea Lately,” Conan, HBO’s “Funny as Hell,” Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” and his own half-hour special on Comedy Central. His debut comedy album, “Touche,” reached No. 7 on the iTunes comedy charts.

“There was a definitive sense of (comedy) community in San Francisco,” Stout said. “There’s no real industry there. So nobody’s really competing with each other. Some performers might do well, some might not do well and you continue on. You were respected for the quality of work you put out.”
