TELESUR -- Award-winning journalist, filmmaker and immigration advocate Jose Antonio Vargas has been chosen to direct a new documentary project for MTV's “Look Different” campaign, which will examine what it means to be young and white in the United States. Vargas confirmed the reports via Twitter. Due to his undocumented status he was unable to apply for financial aid, but he received a private scholarship to attend San Francisco State University, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Black Studies. Vargas is also the founder of Define American, a nonprofit organization intended to open up dialogue about the criteria people use to determine who is an “American.” In 2013, Vargas wrote, produced, and directed an autobiographical film sponsored by CNN called “Documented.”
