Alafia Dance Ensemble Dedicates Performance to Former Lecturer Alicia Pierce

DAILY NEXUS (UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA) -- The final dance of the night, “Libète,” Haitian for “freedom,” was dedicated to Alicia Pierce. A Haitian dance teacher at SFSU, Pierce passed away on December 24, 2008, from breast cancer. The dancers wore red and blue, the main colors of the Haitian flag.
