Professor McBride: Canceled Release of 'The Interview' 'a Real Blow to Freedom of Expression'

KTVU-CHANNEL 2 -- Under the threat of terrorist attacks from hackers and with the nation’s largest multiplex chains pulling the film from their screens, Sony Pictures Entertainment took the unprecedented step of canceling the December 25 release of the Seth Rogen comedy “The Interview.” “I think it’s a real blow to freedom of expression in our country and the film industry,” says Joseph McBride, a professor of Cinema at San Francisco State University. “I don't like the precedent that you can stop the film from being in theatres if you don’t like it.”
