Pop Up Gay Bar: Ghosts of Gentrification Bar Crawl

SF WEEKLY -- Co-sponsored by San Francisco State University, the pub crawl highlights the changes and issues that come with gentrification. Once the group assembles in the Castro, Pop-Up Gay Bar tours the city and explores former gay bars that, for one reason or another, have been forced to change ownership or close. These bars, along with some of the few that are still standing, show participants San Francisco’s ever-changing LGBT scene in a night that promises to be equal parts fun and enlightening. Sometimes it’s a little easier to face change with a drink in one hand and a friend on the other shoulder.
