SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Greg Proops just might be “The Smartest Man in the World.” That’s the name of his hit podcast, which he started in 2010. The show is taped in front of a live audience, in places as far off as Finland and New Zealand. Proops grew up in San Carlos and attended San Francisco State University. He started doing stand-up comedy in San Francisco before getting his big break on the British show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Proops continues as a feature player in the series. What does it take to be the smartest man in the world? “Someone asked me the other day, how do you measure intelligence? And I was like: curiosity. It’s people who are incurious and people who want to believe things that aren’t true that drive me crazy, you know. When you’re willfully ignorant, that to me is a lack of intelligence. As far as not going to school or anything like that, that has nothing to do with intelligence. I know plenty of lawyers who are idiots.”
