SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Born in San Francisco and raised in Nevada City, Drollinger returned to the big city to pursue a theater major at San Francisco State. In the ’90s he was part of a post-punk art-rock band called Enrique and had a few of his shows, including “The Cereal Killers” and “The Possession of Mrs. Jones,” produced locally. In the new show, Drollinger directs and plays Champagne White, who has been framed for murder and is sent to “Lady Prison.” “For me, drag and camp are powerful tools,” Drollinger says. “I can be funny in ways I’m not as a boy and sexy in ways I’m not as a boy. I also think that drag is disarming and adds another layer of comedy that you can’t get by a gender playing its own gender, man or woman.”
