WILLITS NEWS -- Hellman’s approach has helped both advanced students and those needing more motivation to succeed.
“He goes above and beyond,” says Ramming. She wasn’t surprised that other members of the faculty also noticed his affect on student achievement. “Writing is such a major building block of learning,” Ramming says. “Hellman also helps students who have been away from school to reconnect to their love of learning.”
“The best thing about teaching is the interaction with my students. I try to help each student realize the strength of their own abilities and to find their own voice,” Hellman says. He believes “everything needed to be a great academic writer is already inside each student.”
Hellman has a Master’s degree in English from San Francisco State University. He has been a newspaper reporter, a freelance journalist and has had numerous short stories and poems published.
