SF State Comes Together for International Education Week

GOLDEN GATE XPRESS -- Students can participate in world fusion dance classes, Japanese tea ceremonies, Zumba classes and a mock climate summit. Jazz combos and the SF State Percussion Ensemble will perform music from around the world. There will be workshops for students to learn how they can study abroad and a panel discussion in which students can meet diplomats and learn what it is like to be a diplomat today. International Education Week is a joint effort of the U.S. departments of State and Education. It began in 2000 to praise the benefits of international collaboration and exchange of ideas, according to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. International Education Week is observed at thousands of universities worldwide. “The more we understand what’s going on in other countries and the more people we know in other countries, the better we can understand the world and how to make good decisions in it,” International Relations Professor Kathleen McAfee said.
