NAPA VALLEY REGISTER -- Napa Valley landscapes are featured in “Appellation,” a photographic series including 150 large-scale panoramas of American viticulture, starting with Napa County. They can be found on deSoto’s website, LewisDeSoto.net, under “Wallworks.” For most of his landscape photos, deSoto uses French software called Autopano Pro, which he refines with Adobe Photoshop. A professor of art at San Francisco State University, deSoto taught at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and served as the director of graduate studies at California College of Arts and Crafts. Current and upcoming deSoto exhibits can be seen in San Bernardino, San Francisco, Oakland, Alabama, Oregon, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan and Colorado. His work has been exhibited in Japan and Europe and is in the collections of the Seattle Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and Museum of Modern Art in New York, where he has a studio.
