REPUBLICAN HERALD (POTTSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA) -- This week, the gallery walls at Sage Coffeehouse & Tea Garden in Pottsville were adorned with a collection of more than 20 alternative paintings. Some were shaped like crosses. Others, hearts. The artist, Wasil Bakowicz, Shamokin, said Wednesday he relishes the moments when passersby catch glimpses of them, then stop to examine the details. And he’s curious about the first things they’ll say when they see pieces like “Lattice Heart 3.” He graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s degree in art studio and dance in 1999. He earned his Master’s in arts and consciousness from John F. Kennedy University, Berkeley, California, in 2008.
