DES MOINES REGISTER -- Following his stint with Green Street Music, Butler worked for a small concert venue in Palo Alto that had live music about six days a week. During that time Butler also was attending San Francisco State University and getting a degree in electronic communications. When offered a position with Skywalker Sound, he made the move from the music industry to the movie industry. Butler has quickly made a name for himself as a foley mixer. “What we do in foley is we do footsteps, hand movements, any auxiliary sound that falls out of the realm of car explosions,” he said. “We fill the soundscape with all the sounds you should be hearing in the room with these people.” For his third project in the film industry, Butler worked on “The Peanuts Movie” and picked up a nomination for a Cinema Audio Society award for foley mixing.
