SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Both sides want to control the committee because it gives endorsements of the San Francisco Democratic Party, which could be extremely valuable in November, when the odd-numbered supervisorial districts and several significant ballot measures will be before voters. “This has to do with the competitiveness of the overall city’s political balance,” said Jason McDaniel, assistant professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University. “You’re seeing a lot of competition and closely run elections, and the idea then is that the endorsements become so important on a whole range of issues.”
