Alum Amy Cancelmo Co-curates Show at Root Division Gallery

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- Amy Cancelmo, who co-curates with Billy Ocallaghan as part of the National Queer Arts Festival, traces the roots of the open-call exhibition — and its related zine — to a queer art history class at San Francisco State University. “By pushing back,” she writes in the show’s essay, “building an even queerer set of idols, (the exhibit’s artists) challenge the normalization, even assimilation, of queerness in history.”
