FAIRFIELD DAILY REPUBLIC -- When you hear the music of a school band in Monday’s Independence Day parade, think of Cliff Gordon. The longtime owner of Gordon’s Music and Sound and this year’s parade grand marshal has had a hand in helping every school music program and band in the area since the 1970s. A Fairfield native, Gordon was born on a sheep ranch outside of Travis Air Force Base. While attending San Francisco State University as a music education major, he worked as a collection agent for Solano Music when it was owned by piano teacher William Kuntz.
