Alum Evan Kinori Gets Down to Work Designing Durable Clothing

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- The personal propels San Francisco designer Evan Kinori. So when the longtime skateboarder couldn’t find the minimalist, classic and durable clothing he wanted, he set out to design his own, switching from studying French and philosophy at San Francisco State to applying himself to fashion design and pattern making at City College of San Francisco and, finally, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. “Skateboarding at its most potent is a counterculture that can inspire individuals to think freely and create their own rules,” Kinori opines. “There’s no coaches or guidebook, so there’s boundless freedom to express yourself and come up with your own approach to life and society.”
