MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL -- Koehler, who started the Stone Foxes with his brother, Spence, grew up in a small town in the Sierra foothills and came to the city to go to San Francisco State. He also works at KNBR, a San Francisco sports radio station. Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey, the hip hosts of the station’s Murph and Mac Show, convinced Nash to check out the Stone Foxes when they played at Sweetwater in Mill Valley. He was impressed enough to give them a coveted spot in Sound Summit. ”We still feel like we’ve got a long way to go, but the ride’s been pretty good so far,” Koehler says. “And you can’t complain when your job is to get up in front of people every night and sweat and scream and try to give them a unified experience. I’ll take that. That’s not so bad.”
