AL BAWABA (JORDAN) -- Inspired by a true story and shot in a real prison in Jordan, 3000 Nights tells the story of a newlywed Palestinian schoolteacher who is wrongfully arrested and incarcerated in an Israeli prison, where she gives birth to her son, the Royal Film Commission said.

Through her struggle to raise her child behind bars, the film traces a young mother’s journey of hope, resilience and survival against all odds.

The film received funding from several sources, including the Jordan Film Fund.

It has been released in theatres in nine countries so far, to international critical acclaim and has been shown at dozens of festivals, the commission noted.

Masri was born in Amman, of a Palestinian father and an American mother. She grew up in Beirut and studied film at University of California, Berkeley, and San Francisco State University.

The filmmaker has directed and produced several documentaries that have won more than 60 international awards.
