After an historic win against undefeated Harvard University in January, the SF State Forensics Team continued its winning ways by taking home the team sweepstakes prize for four-year universities at the Santa Rosa Invitational, held at Santa Rosa Junior College on October 7 and 8. Shabaz Kazia and Adrian Cuevas each won an individual first-place award at the event.

Previously, Donte Buchanan won a first-place speaker prize at the Val Browning Round Robin at Weber State University on September 28 and 29. His prize came in Policy Debate, junior varsity division.

Forensics Director Teddy Albiniak gives credit to the team’s speech director, Lindsey Ayotte, and coaches and volunteers Aliyah Shaheed, Genelle Murray, Nancy Andrade, Precious Bowes, Brittany Brennecke and Abas Idris for helping guide the Gators to victory.

“This proves what we already know: Across the board our Gators are a force to be reckoned with,” Albiniak says. “The hallmark of our team is the innovative and creative research our students bring to competition. Judges seem to agree.”
