Alumni Annette Bening, Jeffrey Tambor Nominated for Golden Globes

EAST BAY TIMES -- A number of those works and performers getting honors — or getting snubs — have strong Bay Area connections. Here is a highlight of local favorites who have reason to celebrate today or who are left keeping a stiff upper lip as they nurse their disappointment. Annette Bening: The San Francisco State University graduate won two Golden Globe awards previously for “Being Julia” and “The Kids Are All Right” and just received her third nomination for the comedy-drama “20th Century Woman.” Jeffrey Tambor: The San Francisco native, as well as a graduate of San Francisco State, Tambor was once again nominated for Best Actor in a television musical or comedy for his role as a transgender woman in “Transparent.” This is the third straight year Tambor has been nominated for a Golden Globe in this category, and he won in 2015.
