KPFA-FM, UPFRONT (BERKELEY) -- On today’s show we talk about Rex Tillerson’s visit to Russia with Anthony D’Agostino, professor of History at San Francisco State University and an expert on the history of Russia. He has written books on the Russian revolution and “The Rise of Global Powers: International Politics in the Era of World Wars.” “If we go back to the 18th century, Russia is pretty much on the same page with the United States — the League of Armed Neutrality vis-à-vis the American Revolution,” D’Agostino says. “ ... They were on our side with the Civil War. They sold us Alaska in order to spite Britain, just to build our power up against Britain.”
