Students Win National Awards for Short Videos, TV Series Scripts

The strength of the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA) Department was on display during the Broadcast Education Association’s 2017 Festival of Media Arts, where students took home four awards.

Award winners from SF State

  • Kimberly Canellos, Lucy Cazares, Peter Mansour, Steven Milazzo and Teeyam Moussavizadeh. First place, Original Television Series Pilot. Part Time Vampire.
  • Daniel Fiel. Award of Excellence, Mobisode/Webisode. Tinder Mom.
  • Jessi Fry, Paul S. Flores and Miranda Fry. Second place (tie), Animation/Experimental/Mixed. That Crowbar Thing.
  • Erica Ramsey Pulley, Ryan Sanchez, Nick Darouian and Erick Soria, San Francisco State University. Third place (tie), Animation/Experimental/Mixed. The More Things Change.

The festival featured more 175 colleges and universities and more than 1,450 entries. It took place April 22 – April 24 in Las Vegas.
