SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS -- In some cases, local universities looking for ways to wade into the water without alienating large swaths of their audience opted to invite artists and philanthropists who touch on politics rather than politicians themselves. San Francisco State will host Iranian-born businesswoman and philanthropist Neda Nobari, whose eponymous foundation backs programs that tackle social justice and cultural awareness issues through art and film.
