Poetry Clips of the Week: Giant Night: 50 Years of The Poetry Project

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

These video clips are the part of a series highlighting recent readings held by SF State’s Poetry Center and American Poetry Archives. Visit this website regularly for fresh poetic content.

On April 13, The Poetry Center hosted Ariel Goldberg and Simone White, reading in celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Poetry Project at St. Marks Church in New York City. Goldberg read from The Estrangement Principle (Nightboat Books, 2016) and previously published works. White read from her forthcoming work Dear Angel of Death (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2017).

A conversation with the audience followed the readings, focusing on each writer’s work and on the history, present and future activities of The Poetry Project.

Goldberg reads “Rough Proof,” a recent work responding to the photography of Berenice Abbott.

White reads from her manuscript Dear Angel of Death, forthcoming from Ugly Duckling Presse.
