Alum Kathy Morelli Maier Conducts Hayward Municipal Band

EAST BAY TIMES -- Maier became the band’s conductor in February 1998 after her father died. She had previously served as the band’s assistant conductor since her college days at Oakland’s Holy Names University and San Francisco State University.

“I knew that I could do it and had the training to do it, but to step up and do it because he had died suddenly was very emotional. Because the tradition was there, it’s an absolute honor and blast to stand in front of all of these talented musicians and be with them on this musical journey for these performances,” she said.
