PEOPLE -- With the current political climate, there’s nothing like a viral video to bring cultures together.
A Facebook video containing a compilation of clips featuring Mexicans and Punjabis has gone viral, generating over 22 million views in a little over a week. Neighbors from both groups were captured in the middle of the street dancing together to songs from their respective cultures. They were seen trying to learn each other’s traditional dances with the inclusion of some dance battles.
The original video was shared on Twitter by Jashandeep Kahlon, a student and basketball player at San Francisco State University. In his post, he calls it “the best 4th of July” he’s taken part in and even gives a shoutout to his Mexican neighbors. In one of the comments, a user claims that she lives in the neighborhood the video takes place in and that the party captured is nothing out of the ordinary for the area.
