Alum Brenda Holloway Johnson Sings Whitney Houston

VALLEJO TIMES-HERALD -- If there’s anything that describes Brenda Holloway Johnson, it’s pride and joy.

Oh so fitting, considering the Vallejoan is a charter member of the veteran Bay Area dance band that’s done thousands of gigs in its 30-plus years.

And, while Pride and Joy continues a steady schedule, Holloway Johnson seizes breaks in the band’s schedule to do her own thing.

That includes August 23 at the Empress Theatre in Vallejo for a concert, “Brenda Holloway Johnson Brings You the Music of Whitney Houston and Friends.”

A Vallejoan nine years, the San Francisco State University graduate was a college senior when she helped get Pride and Joy started “from the beginning.”
