EAST BAY TIMES -- The show, Outcasts Revisited, is a tribute to an old KSAN program of the late 1970s, the Outcasts Hour, that was among the first regular punk rock programs in the country, according to radio lore.
Heyman, who was the first punk rock DJ, in 1977, at San Francisco State’s college radio station, KSFS, interned at KSAN during the height of the punk scene in San Francisco and the East Bay. He went on to set up radio stations around the world for the United Nations.
“What a lot of people don’t know is that together with London and New York, San Francisco and the East Bay were epicenters of punk and new wave in the those early years,” Heyman said in a release. “I am really excited about bringing some of this little known music to a new generation, as well as taking a walk down memory lane with my fellow old punkers.”
