Poetry Clips of the Week: Tongo Eisen-Martin with Marshall Trammell

Thursday, December 14, 2017

On October 7, The Poetry Center and The Green Arcade presented Tongo Eisen-Martin, poetry, with Marshall Trammell, music, at The Green Arcade in San Francisco.

Eisen-Martin, with Trammell on drums, in a first-time collaboration, performed poems from Heaven Is All Goodbyes (City Lights Books, 2017), and someone’s dead already (Bootstrap Press, 2015). This event was the culminating performance of Eisen-Martin’s week as the first Mazza Writer in Residence with The Poetry Center, sponsored by the Sam Mazza Foundation.

These video clips are the part of a series highlighting recent readings held by SF State’s Poetry Center and American Poetry Archives. Visit this website regularly for fresh poetic content.

Marshall Trammell performs a drum solo, then is joined by Tongo Eisen-Martin performing “I have to talk to myself differently now,” from Heaven Is All Goodbyes.

Tongo Eisen-Martin reads from “Climbing Back Down the Wind,” a poem from someone's dead already, with Marshall Trammell on drums.
